Nightfury was a maze traversing robot hand built from the ground up for the National Engineering Robotics Contest 2012. The task that had to be accomplished was navigating around a maze and plotting balls into coloured boxes in a specific order. This video explains the task in detail.
The robot we built for this competition was NightFury (name inspired by “How To Train Your Dragon” the movie). The entire robot was built by our team of four people from the machining, the body, the hand soldered circuit boards to the hand cut ball holding PVC pipe.
All of the team was in its sophomore year at GIKI when they built this robot.It robot was a semifinalist from more than 170 teams in the competition. It also won the “Best Engineering Design” award.
